The best jobs live at the intersection of three values . . .
Good economics
Good work
Good relationships
There is no objective definition for those terms. We get to decide.
If you’ve been around long enough, you realize how rare a “triple bottom line” is. When you find yourself loving all three, be sure to stop and celebrate. Take a deep breath of some truly rare air.
More often, we get two out of three.
One out of three heads us towards toxic territory. The most common example is . . .
“I really don’t like the work.”
“I dislike the people.”
“But, I’m making good money.”
I’m not an expert in your situation, but that cocktail is not a healthy one. It’s possible you truly have no better alternative for earning bread money. But are you sure of that?
If you see no path to getting back to two and the dream of three, maybe it’s time to go in a new direction.
Just saying.
