Plan Like a Pessimist, Work Like An Optimist

We plan, prepare, work, worry, work some more, use our skills, and employ our tactics and strategies, all in service of bringing about a positive outcome.

Myriad causes, conditions, and often competitors add to the soup of our intentions. We like to think we have some measure of control over how things will turn out, but do we?

I’m all for bringing focus, skill, energy, training, and preparation to bear on most everything I do in the world of work (and usually what I call fun).

Achieving the desired outcome feels rewarding, but the reward is transitory. On to the next thing.

True satisfaction comes from honoring the work for the sake of the work. Take pleasure in the quality of your focus and activity. The rest will take care of itself.
