As always an excellent post! As crazy as it all seems I did come away with hope that the "public", or at least the handful of people the press talk to, are smarter than they seem. Specifically, people are what they are and they can't hide being a (fill in the blank) no matter how good a showman they are. Herman Cain was a client and he was and is what he appears. My guess is the others are the same even though Mitt is trying very hard to not be.

Nice write up. I'm looking at an X11 (or X12) as a replacement for my RSR2. I loved my Shark but like the Shoei X11 it's becoming hard to find and nothing comes remotely close to my Duhamel Replica (white) graphic wise.
I have found a 2008 X11 on closeout for roughly $300 less than an X12. Very tempting, even considering the manufacture is only supporting warranty for 7 year after manufacturing...
Debating if I should get that X11, shell up and get the porky X12 or maybe wait for the Racer-R Pro to finally show up.

There is a movement spawned on the internet by folks who wanted the antithesis of the Glen Beck rally I thought you might be interested in:

Citizens of the site www.reddit.com organized an online petition in an attempt to spur political comedian and host of "The Colbert Report," Stephen Colbert, into hosting a counter to the Beck rally. Dubbed "Restoring Truthiness" the movement was at first just a collection of virtual support for such an event.

However, in an attempt to garner Mr. Colbert's attention, the collective hive mind set out to do good in the process itself. Members of the site were encouraged to donate to "Donorschoose.org" an educational charity Stephen Colbert serves on the board of directors for.

The influx of cash is nearing $200,000.00 within just a few days, breaking all records the website held and the site itself as the traffic increase led to some downtime of the donorschoose.org servers.

The generosity of many anonymous redditors has attracted media coverage, spurred an outcry of appreciation from teachers involved in the donorschoose.org projects, and ultimately succeeded in capturing Stephen Colbert's attention as well (see: http://www.reddit.com/r/blog/comments/ddwiv/a_personal_message_from_stephen_colbert_to_the/).

Amidst all the ignorance and anti-intellectualism being touted these days, it's nice to see something more positive in the news. Perhaps you will find it inspiring as well!

But gosh golly gee, they get twenty-four hours to read and study the bills... or three hours under the Republicans.

Yup, you're right on. Sausage making of the worst sort in a factory as dilapidated as an automobile graveyard.
