Kindle Dies, Amazon Comes Through

by kevin on November 19, 2008

The other day my Kindle crashed.  I was closing in on the denouement, turning pages as fast as I could, and then BAM.  It froze.  Well that’s something real books don’t do.  It turns out that this is a relatively common fault (grrrr).  To get it to work again, you need to have your power supply (I didn’t), so don’t leave home without it. Something to think about if you’re taking a long plane flight.

The good news, if there is any in a story like this, is that you can actually reach someone by phone who understands, cares, and tries to help.  For what it’s worth, they’re in the Tri-Cities area here in Washington State.  Even better, I had a replacement Kindle in my hands two days later. So kudos to Amazon for actually getting the customer service thing right.

That aside, I love my Kindle.
